ASK Day Rockford 2006
Thank you for your participation in making the first annual ASK Day in Rockford a huge success! With your support, we were able to spread the word in Rockford and truly bring attention to the importance of asking if there are guns where children play.
With the support of Mayor Morrissey, the morning press conference was both well attended and well publicized.
Thanks to Rockford Mass Transit District, we were able to bring the ASK pledge (and some cupcakes) to many of your offices!
On Wednesday evening, we partnered with Maverick Media to sponsor “T-Shirt Night” at the Rockford RiverHawks game, and gave away 1,000 t-Shirts featuring the ASK logo and message. The radio stations of Maverick Media featured ASK on their programming throughout the day and also arranged for the pledges to be available at Rockford Wal-Marts.
As you probably know, ASK Day received wide coverage in Rockford. Stories appeared on every nightly newscast, and three large articles were featured around the country and in the Rockford Register Star. We were overwhelmed with the positive response, and hope that parents throughout the city continue to hear this message and ask if there are guns where their children play.
